Where and When

Family Life

My oldest daughter recently got diagnosed with ADD and just got placed on medicine for it. We’ve noticed a vast improvement with behavior and doing better with grades in school. I’m glad we were able to find help for her while she was young before she got too far behind.

Employment

I survived the election! For those that don’t know I work at a local election board. Our election didn’t have any problems and we were able to finish most of everything before deadlines. Proper planning on my part was key to our success this year.

Personal Enrichment

I’m currently learning Japanese via Duolingo. I’m on Section 2, Unit 2. I’m finding something challenging like learning a language with a different alphabet keeps my mind busy.

Tech Projects

• I had some data loss after a borked Windows update, so I took the time to setup a RAID 10 on my desktop computer. This is the first time doing it bare metal versus with something like Windows Storage Spaces.
• Planning on setting up OPNSense firewall for my home network once the hardware arrives. I’m not sure if it was related to the above dataloss, but I was noticing weird things going on with the home network. Better safe than sorry.
• Successful conversion of my NAS from TrueNAS to openmediavault. Switching from FreeBSD to Linux allows me greater compatibility for recovery in the event of data loss. Given the above problem with that now was the time to switch over.
• Helping my spouse with learning Python for her programming class for middle schoolers. Previously she was teaching Scratch.
